Term 3: Karawhiua! Give it heaps! (+ holidays recap)

Hello everyone! Today is the first day of Term 3. The term theme is “Karawhiua, give it heaps” which is an fitness-style term where we get to find out about things like eating the right food, getting proactive and learning new things. Like any other term we had an immersion assembly, now since the hall is closed because of the construction, it was livestreamed online for us and also parents. One thing that I hated about the assembly is how in the Team 5 movie, Mr Wiseman kept saying “sigma rizzler” like in the cringiest way possible.

My holiday recap!

I had a pretty fun holiday. As in staying at home to play on my PlayStation. But I did go out to do stuff like Kmart and paknsave! And I had some time in the arcade, but for once, I got bored because it was my 10th time there. I do have so low-lights, like waking up in the morning, like can I have some sleep?

Some of my goals for this term!

I have set up some goals for the term, one of them is to stay out of trouble, I think this is a great goal because of college, getting into trouble would be NOT GOOD. Another goal is to enjoy the term as I am not looking forward to swimming but would love to try!

So I hope I have a good term!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

Term 2 Inquiry – Transformers (Drama)

WALT: How can I use the Elements of Drama to express myself?

Throughout the term, we have been learning all about drama. And just last week, my group performed it to the class. Throughout the term, we had to use the plays from school journals and regularly practice them in order to perform those plays at the end of the term, we could also use props and costumes to bring the story to life!

The play

The play my group performed is called “Santa Trap”. It’s about a group of naughty kids trying to get presents from Santa, but they would have to use traps to get him. The story had 6 characters, Amy, Dylan, Tania, Michael, Sophie and Santa, these who were played by my group: Myself, Jabal, Patrick, Maddie and Danielle.

My personal reflection and thoughts

In my perspective, I wan’t actually here on that day. But, I do have some thoughts about the play in the video. I think that the final play was… better than I thought! I do feel sorry for Patrick for doing my role (Michael). However it didn’t feel professional because the dialogue wasn’t so natural. The costumes were good but I can see that the only prop in the play was the plan for the Santa trap. The only main downside that I can see is the middle of the story, I could tell that it was chaos.

What should we work on?

I think we should work on our verbal skills, as I mentioned that the dialogue wasn’t natural. Another thing is props, we should have been more creative with the props. Like the Venus fly trap or the stinky socks. Which conveniently brings me into time. It looks like we didn’t have the time to do the play perfectly, that’s why we didn’t have props or proper costumes.

‘I Remember’ Poem

This is my ‘I Remember’ poem. We were tasked to write a poem based on something scary or surprising, and it must include one of our 5 senses.

My poem is about waking up in the middle of the night to drink a good glass of water. But tries to resist the darkness. I hope you like my poem because this is my first time using Canva!

Boy at the Back of the Class – Novel Study (Chapter 13-19)

For the past couple of weeks, we have been doing a novel study on the book called “boy at the back of the class” by Onjali Q Raũe. It’s about a refugee kid who came to a British school, full of kids that someone new would of never seen before. But the narrator wanted to be the refugee kid’s friend, but the narrator wanted to find out a little more about this kid.

This is for chapter 13-19. This might be my favourite part of the story, how they wanna help Ahmet by asking the queen, but I won’t say anything else otherwise i’m going to spoil it!

Boy at the Back of the Class – Novel Study (Chapter 7-12)

For the past couple of weeks, we have been doing a novel study on the book called “boy at the back of the class” by Onjali Q Raũe. It’s about a refugee kid who came to a British school, full of kids that someone new would of never seen before. But the narrator wanted to be the refugee kid’s friend, but the narrator wanted to find out a little more about this kid.

This is for chapter 7-12. This is where we can really start to understand the refugee kid well. I find these slides particularly easy. I like this part of the story because of the encounter between the refugee kid who’s name is Ahmet, and the bully of the class; Brendan the bully.

Boy at the Back of the Class – Novel Study (Chapter 1-6)

For the past couple of weeks, we have been doing a novel study on the book called “boy at the back of the class” by Onjali Q Raũe. It’s about a refugee kid who came to a British school, full of kids that someone new would of never seen before. But the narrator wanted to be the refugee kid’s friend, but the narrator wanted to find out a little more about this kid.

This is for chapter 1-6. This is the beginning of the story, where we get to be introduced to the characters, and this refugee kid as he took the empty chair at the back of the class. Now I wouldn’t write much since it’s only the beginning. So I really am interested in this story.

Revolting Rhymes – Audiobook

Hello everybody, today I made an audiobook on Cinderella from the book ‘Revolting Rhymes’. The main reason why I did this is because of how I can focus on my expression, enthusiasm, and tone to an audience. I love to have feedback on my audiobook, like on how
