WALT: How can I use the Elements of Drama to express myself?
Throughout the term, we have been learning all about drama. And just last week, my group performed it to the class. Throughout the term, we had to use the plays from school journals and regularly practice them in order to perform those plays at the end of the term, we could also use props and costumes to bring the story to life!
The play
The play my group performed is called “Santa Trap”. It’s about a group of naughty kids trying to get presents from Santa, but they would have to use traps to get him. The story had 6 characters, Amy, Dylan, Tania, Michael, Sophie and Santa, these who were played by my group: Myself, Jabal, Patrick, Maddie and Danielle.
My personal reflection and thoughts
In my perspective, I wan’t actually here on that day. But, I do have some thoughts about the play in the video. I think that the final play was… better than I thought! I do feel sorry for Patrick for doing my role (Michael). However it didn’t feel professional because the dialogue wasn’t so natural. The costumes were good but I can see that the only prop in the play was the plan for the Santa trap. The only main downside that I can see is the middle of the story, I could tell that it was chaos.
What should we work on?
I think we should work on our verbal skills, as I mentioned that the dialogue wasn’t natural. Another thing is props, we should have been more creative with the props. Like the Venus fly trap or the stinky socks. Which conveniently brings me into time. It looks like we didn’t have the time to do the play perfectly, that’s why we didn’t have props or proper costumes.
