Mixed Word Problems

WALT: Illustrate the steps I used to solve each problem.

Today, I did some normal word problems, but the catch is that we don’t care about the answer, I mean we do but not today, we care about how to solve the problem. The working out has to be as specific so it makes sense, as some word problems can be so confusing and hard, but that’s how maths work, to solve problems that haven’t been solved yet. Anyway I hope you enjoy this slide right here!

Statistical Inventigations

WALT: Carry out a statistical investigation by using the PPDAC method.

Hello everybody and welcome to my blog for 2024! I will be posting here every week and I hope you will enjoy my posts for 2024!

This week, we learned about statistical investigations and collecting data is different questions in our class (Room 2). Which would help us to collect data based on asking questions to people.

We used the PPDAC method, which stands for Problem, Plan, Data, Analyse and Conclusion.

My question was “What is your favorite fizzy drink?” and the results were.. expected. Coke was 1st which was not surprising. 2nd was a three way tie with Sprite, Fanta and Lift. And in last place was Pepsi, which was expected.

Term 4 DLO:

This term, we have been building stuff that can improve our school life. We have built a picnic table and bench. Unfortunately, we were unable to do a full size project and instead did a prototype and that’s okay. Anyways to get the fullest experience, watch the ENTIRE video because there are surprises ahead! Also make to like and subscribe too. Just joking but enjoy!

My Invention Design

Today I have finished my design for my invention I posted earlier. If you didn’t know, my invention is the Teleportation Machine. And here is my final design. I wanted to make the machine built in the house. And on the side is tablet. Used to set the location and tell you if it works or not. Click the next slide to see the tablet in full.

Field Notes:

  • The Elvis statue in the machine was not created by me
  • Teleportation machines are usually in living rooms, unless you are rich and get to have it in every room in the house
  • The map on the tablet is powered by Google Maps
  • If the machine is broken (red light), then it would just not even turn on
  • The circles on the top are said “lights”
  • why would there be windows near the machine?

Saving the World, One Swipe at a Time – Research

Today at Extension, we read a book called “Saving the World, One Swipe at a Time” by Peter Griffin. This slideshow is my research about the book. It tells you what the book is, and my thoughts on the book.

It was about the clever people in New Zealand who created inventions and their backstory as to why they did it. These people are Dmitry Selitskiy, Anna Guenther and Hayden Laird. I really that this boo is great and also inspire others to create their own inventions.

If you would like to read it the book yourself, click here. I promise it isn’t a malware link 🙂

My Robot Spider

Today I built a robot spider in Mana Ako Club. It was more complicated than you think, it had batteries, wires, gears, and more! It’s actually more harder than you think.

The wiring of the robot was interesting, as I didn’t know how to do it but it was more straight forward than you think. Now was the time to race, we had to bet with rubber bands to see who went to the finish line first. completing the race gives you double the bands and winning first gives you triple the bands.

But the point of building a robot spider isn’t because of having races with the final product (which is what happened), but learning along the way, and having perseverance by never giving up. I’m not gonna lie but I nearly gave up because building the spider legs was almost annoying, but I instead got help from my friends and got it finished in time.

I hope you enjoy my spider!

Toilets in the past 100 years

Today at Mana Ako Club, we learned about the technology that humans invented, and what helped our normal life. We had to research our technology based off a spinning wheel, and I got toilet of course, but anyway, why is the toilet a piece of technology? Well technology doesn’t have to include electricity, but the toilet is considered technology because it can safely store.. you know. I mean imagine you’re in the stone age, and need to go pee or even a number 2., you would have to go outside and go to a bush and do your business. So thats why the toilet is a piece of technology. Also check out these toilets for the past century. I hope you enjoyed my little banter about toilets!
