This is what I remember about the land wars. Just so you know.
Pōtatau Te Wherowhero was the first Maori king and the Treaty of Waitangi was signed. But the wars started because Pōtatau Te Wherowhero told the crown that if they cross the Waikato River, they will have a war. Which it did happen using muskets. One popular battle was the Parihaka invasion in 1881. The war ended in 1975.
